Summer Social Events Recap

Once again, the summer season was filled with a variety of social events. We started with the annual Summer Solstice Celebration at Larkspur which was attended by close to one hundred guests who enjoyed a beautiful June evening and a fabulous dinner at a new venue for this event. Thanks to Susan Narduzzi for making the evening memorable!

In late June, Gary Blamire held a New Members Party at Singletree which saw more than fifty new potential members enjoying each other’s company.

July started off with Cocktails and Crudites again chaired by Susan Mitchell who organized seven host homes and sixty-one attendees enjoying an evening of camaraderie. Thanks again Susan!

wolcottGB4Next on the calendar was the annual “Bike to Breakfast” at the Wolcott Yacht Club hosted by Jill Wilson and Leila White. The morning and the food were both perfect! Of the eighty-seven attendees, more than a third actually rode their bikes to the venue (some of us enjoyed the view from our cars…). Thanks to Jill and Leila for all your help!

In mid-July, Greta Blamire organized a three-night trip to Crested Butte where members were able to hike, bike and just enjoy the ambiance of that beautiful mountain village along with a few happy hours…  With such a great attendance of thirty-nine people, the trip may need to be repeated!  Thanks, Greta!

A new event this summer was Game Night which was hosted in her home by Beth Taylor. Beth suggested this event and had twenty-four members enjoy various board games and refreshments for a very enjoyable summer evening. Thanks, Beth, for this new event!

Late in July, once again thanks to Chuck Bailey, we had a sell-out event at the Lake Dillon Theatre where sixty-eight members enjoyed “Sweet Charity”.  Due to the sell-out, the theatre company provided complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvres! DillonTheaterJuly14fromDeanWolz.JPG

On August 4, Alice Boone was the chair for a Square Dance held at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion. With a great caller, forty-four attendees, lots of food, beer and wine, the evening was a great success. Thanks Alice – how about a repeat next year??

On August 10, our annual President’s Dance was held at the Lodge at Vail in the International Ballroom.  Jeanne Mosier chaired the event which had almost one hundred members and guests dancing to the Fabulous Femmes. Gary introduced the new Board and thanked the current Board for their help this year. Thanks for all your work on this large event, Jeanne!

Our last August event was the annual Picnic and Bike Fest held once again at the Singletree Pavilion and chaired by Melanna Marcellot and Jim Tharp. The weather cooperated for both the bikers and the picnickers. With over one hundred attendees, this event continues to be one of the most popular of the summer. Thanks, Melanna and Jim!

As the summer season came to a close, the first September event was the annual Golf and Tennis Outing held once again at Country Club of the Rockies, Beaver Creek Tennis Courts and Vista Restaurant. This year the weather cooperated for both golf and tennis!! After the sporting events, a wonderful buffet dinner was enjoyed by sixty-three members at Vista. Thanks go to Katie Lambert for organizing the golf, and to Eileen Thurnauer for organizing the tennis!

The final event of the summer season was chaired by Jan Cartade on September 11. Thanks to Jan, eighty-five members enjoyed a late summer evening by the pool at the Lodge at Cordillera for the End of Season Cocktail Party, talking about the past summer months while getting ready for the leaves to change and the snow to fly. Many thanks to all the chairpersons and the volunteers who helped make our summer social events memorable. It is a joy to work with so many members willing to help in so many ways!
